New tutorial for Photoshop. New addition to main page. Free backgrounds! Lots of stuff happening. New websites to work on and our printing shop is closing up. We're going to sell all out equipment and get an office doing print brokering and website design.

Yes, it has been quite a while since I last updated Web Niche. Due mostly to my father being gravely ill and then passing away in January. I'm starting to get back into the swing of things now, so you can expect some more new stuff soon. Meanwhile, you can look at a little tribute I did for my dad. It does require version 4 browsers though since it incorporates DHTML.

On October 31 I won the CoolSTOP Best of the Cool Award! The only other update is that I linked in my slideshow section a slideshow that was on the old version of my site. It's still one of my favorites.

What an exciting month it has been! After I last updated the site, I decided to try submitting it to some award sites including Project Cool. I didn't really expect to win anything. But lo and behold! Web Niche was picked Project Cool's Sighting of the Day for July 29, 1998. I was totally flabbergasted. In any case, I hope you enjoy my site as much as they did. Today I've added a new feature to Web Niche. I've opened a book store in conjunction with Amazon.com. A number of people have asked my recommendations for books on Javascript so I thought I'd make it easy for you!

Well, it has been a while since I've written in an update. Not that I haven't been doing anything! Hey, I've made a nifty little music box for you to listen to while you surf. I've been adding pages to the "China Years" page. Doing the upkeep for Web Rugs. Have a few more tutorials in progress. Hope to have them up soon. I've begun a new project. I am documenting the time period between 1923 and 1926 during which my grandparents lived in China. My grandfather a Professor of Geology at Peiyang University. He came out first and my grandmother joined him the next year. Their correspondence, pictures and other documentation reveal interesting observations of the time and of China during a period of war.

Web Weave is now WebRugs.com and has it's own domain name: www.webrugs.com. It now has a new look and I've installed a search engine!

I've actually added something new! For those of you who were dying to know a little about me, I've put up a bio page. Still hard at work with Web Weave. I am in the process of putting in a CGI script for a classified ad section. Somewhat of a challenge to say the least.

Well, here it is. The Better Rollover Script. My new tutorial about a better rollover script that uses object detection. That way you won't get error messages on browsers that don't support it.

Yes, yes, I know. It has been over two months. But that doesn't mean I haven't been doing anything! While it is true I haven't really done much here, I've been spending enormous amounts of time on Web Weave. Boy, do I need a break! So, you should be seeing some new additions soon. I've been getting some good feedback on the tutorials, so I think I'll try adding more on a regular basis. I've also added a 'feature link' section on my links page. See ya soon!

I've finally started working on the web site for Smythe & Son, our family business. We're commercial printers and like many printers who put off printing their own business cards, we've put off doing our own site. It's just a beginning, but it should grow pretty quickly. Check it out under projects. You can see that Web Niche earned a number four (out of five) rating at Webnet webratings. Also was one of their top five sites for a while. Surprised me!

Hey! Look! I've got a new front page. The site is slightly reorganized. I've added a picture of my son Bryan to the album.
